The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the most famous gardening and landscaping exhibitions in the world, held annually since 1912, organized by the Royal Horticultural Society, on the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea (London). The current edition was held between May 22-26 and Sala Graupera visited the event due to the interest and relevance of the gardens displayed.
We must highlight as an interesting fact the use of many species that we produce in our nursery by one of the gold medal winners of the Chelsea Flower Show.
We are referring to the garden designed by Sarah Price. The M&G Garden is a paradise designed for a warm and sunny climate, using Mediterranean flora and some materials extracted directly from the earth, such as clay and aggregates that contribute to giving color, texture and light to the garden.[](http://www.salagraupera.com/ca/file/img8114jpg)
It is basically a garden of contrasts; the color is subtle, but unexpected and attractive. Flowers in pink, lilac and yellow colors give a sense of continuity thanks to strips of grass. Many drought-tolerant plants are included, which adapt perfectly to the increasingly hot climate of the area.
Among the most prominent species in this garden we want to mention the use of Euphorbia rigida, Helichrysum orientale, Tulbaghia violacea, Salvia argentea, Cistus creticus 'Calcosalto' and Dorycnium pentaphyllum. All these species are native to the Mediterranean region and drought resistant. They are also very cold resistant species, as they can withstand temperatures of -10 / -15ºC. This allows us to create these gardens in almost any area. All these species have spring blooms and some summer blooms, being able to adorn parks and gardens for much of the year. We can add that during the rest of the year, when we don't have flowering, a foliage system of great landscape interest persists; leaves in green, white and bluish colors that can fill garden spaces, contrasting with blooms of other species.
Some of these species are resistant to salinity and sea breeze, such as Helichrysum orientale, Tulbaghia violacea, Cistus creticus 'Calcosalto' and Dorycnium pentaphyllum.
In short, we have been able to confirm that species we cultivate in our nursery are used in competitions like the Chelsea Flower Show and become gold medal winners. This gives us great strength to continue cultivating this type of species and try to continue innovating and supplying the market with new species of great interest.
